The original home of "The Prodger"

Lismore, Co. Waterford

The Great War - limbless survivors

WW1 soldiers
at a nursing home putting on a brave face perhaps or genuinely feeling lucky to have survived at all. "The Prodger" returned to Lismore like the soldier in the photo on wooden crutches with one trouser leg pinned up.

Soldiers Limbs

A crude "leg" by today's terms but what "the Prodger's" artificial limb would have looked like

Leopardstown Soldiers Home

This is where "The Prodger" was probably taught his carpentry skills -Leopardstown Park Hospital, Dublin

Only 10 days left to raise funds on Fund:it -

Extremely successful meeting at The New Theatre this afternoon with Patrick J Byrnes (Director) and Martin Cahill (Set Designer) to begin the bones of getting our set together. Broken clocks, John F Kennedy pictures to high stools and bar tops.

Lismore Castle Arts

Got great feedback from Director of Lismore Castle Arts with regard to getting on board to help get The Prodger growing and the importance of recognising, honouring, remembering and cherishing all our grand uncles, great grandfathers and grandfathers who either fought bravely or suffered a lifetime of mental and physical injuries bravely from the first world war. Almost everyone I talk with, has some hidden relative that served in the Great War.  Can't get enough of the stories.

Leopardstown Park Hospital

Dropped some postcard invites into Leopardstown Park Hospital today and met up with the Assistant Director who showed me the hospital's theatre for the patients.  We thought it would be something really special to bring The Prodger there for one night only, availability permitting.

Fundit.ie only 12 days to go

http://www.fundit.ie/my/project_manage/the-prodger

Many thanks to all who have helped privately or on fundit.  However, as you can see quite a shortfall of funds and only 12 days to go.  Even the smallest amount hugely appreciated.

Dublin South Radio 93.9fm

Had a huge natter with Paul Wright of Dublin South Radio 93.9fm reminiscing about his relative in the Curragh who fought in the First World War and suffered ill health the rest of his life but kept food on the table for his family, from a British Army Pension.

To meet up with Director and Set Designer, Thursday
